I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of this herb called the Valerian. It is a terrible-smelling herb! Many people say it smells like a wet dog or a wet mildew rag. In fact, some places that sell it put it in the back somewhere because it smells so bad.
However, it’s a great herb to help you sleep and help you relax. The spiritual properties of Valerian are considered to be peace, love, and tranquility. It also is supposed to bring really great peace into your body and into your nervous system as you use Valerian. For those of you who wake up in the middle of the night, Valerian might be the herb for you.
We may also have stress calling us. You’re waking up at two or three in the morning and having trouble going to sleep. You’re stressed during the day. You’re worried about work. You’re worried about finances, you’re worried about all kinds of things, but Valerian is a natural herb that will help you calm down and help you sleep.
Historically, the Greeks used Valerian as a way to protect their home. They would hang it all over their property. The Celtics used it to ward off lightning. And it is often said that if two people are fighting you can take a little bit of Valerian and you throw it in between the two people, it’s often said they will stop immediately and they will resort to peace. Wouldn’t that be great? We should all be carrying Valerian around as we’re out and about in the world because there’s so much conflict right now. I love the Valerian because it does bring a lot of peace and harmony. But most importantly, it is used to help you sleep.
So the next time you can’t sleep, make yourself a cup of valerian tea or go to your local health food store you can buy it in a liquid form with a little dropper and you can put a few drops under your tongue and it will knock you right out!
